Another hot week has come to pass. The work is done now we can relax. So sit back and enjoy the RockGuitarLife scene with a rock anthem from our our English friends Queen.
This weeks rock anthem is undoubtedly on anybody's list of rock anthems. It's even got additional mileage at sports stadiums around the world.
This weeks Rock Anthem of the Week is We Will Rock You by Queen.
This is about as basic as rock anthems get. Yet the songs simplicity enhances the impact. The ingenious use of stomping feet and hand claps to set the rhythm takes this song to the most basic roots of all music. Freddie Mercury's powerful delivery of the lyrics grabs your attention with vigor and authority.
The massive sound of the whole band kicking in with the chorus is as in your face as it gets. There is no denying the message here and there is no backing down. The subtle fade in of feedback on the last chorus has you wondering where the song may go next.
Brian May brilliantly cranks out power chords laced with licks to create a memorable solo that ends the song. There is no denying keep it simple principle here. While a short song at only two minutes it has lived for 32 years as a rock anthem as show's no sign of stopping.
This song was often paired with "We are the Champions" which on it's own is a whole other post.
