As the week ends with the day to celebrate our nation, take some time off for family and relaxation. Raise the flag and solute America's birthday this week with an upbeat anthem that celebrates the life of teenage America.
The Rock Anthem of The Week is (you can) still rock in America by Night Ranger
Night Ranger burst on to the scene in the early eighties with this rock anthem. The opening riff gets you going right out of the gate. Make no mistake, this is going to be some serious rock and roll. Jack Blades vocals come in with the story of a young girl dancing the night away. The verse is punctuated by the punches of the guitar that breath some more life into the already rockin song.
The blistering dual guitar work of Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson took things to a whole new level. This wasn't simply playing harmony lines but an all out assault of with guitars blazing away. Between the whammy bar squeals and divebombs of Gillis and the amazing two handed technique of Watson, the solo itself is a masterful composition.
Out of the solo comes the whole band singing a stripped down version of the chorus leading into some more fretboard fireworks. This song has everything a rock anthem should. The chorus is memorable, the rhythm section is locked in and moving just right, and the guitars are unrelenting.
