Rock Anthem of The Week : August 28th

Hey everyone, it's hot as hell, The temperature is starting to swell. Crank up the A/C to keep your cool, and check out this anthem from a band that's old school.

This weeks Rock Anthem of the Week comes from a band who's name is a bit odd, but their music is dead on rock and roll.

This weeks Rock Anthem of The Week is 30 days in the hole By Humble Pie

This 1972 release almost starts off sounding like a demo tape. The sound of Steve Marriott and the boys fine tuning the harmonies for the chorus topped off with some laughter. The guitar soon comes in with a tremolo infused chord leading into the into the main riff.

The sparse rhythm section makes way for the first verse, to take hold. The band kicks in to full swing with the first chorus "30 days in the hole". The song is laden with drug references which anchors this song in the early 70's yet it never sounds dated.

Humble Pie had a huge hit with this song and it has been covered by the likes of Gov't Mule and Mr. Big. A real rock anthem that keeps you groovin.
