Rock Anthem of The Week: August 21st

It's Friday night and I'm ready to relax. So let's enjoy a drink and maybe grab your axe. What do you want to play, well there's no need to freak, check out the Rock Anthem of the Week.

This week's anthem comes from a band that took the new wave of Glam Metal in the late 80's to a new level. The Rock Anthem of the Week is Nothin but a good time By Poison

With the opening riff of the song CC DeVille sets the tone for an upbeat rock and roll ride. The band kicks in with full force driving the song.

The punchy guitars during the verse allow the vocals to stand out. The band hits it's stride while everyone sings "Working, slaving, every day, trying to take a bread from the same old, same old". This sets the stage for the massive chorus declaring that we all need "Nothin, but a good time".

This song is a prime example of Poison's simple, yet effective songwriting. It's straightforward and to the point. They aren't trying to change the world, they are just trying get everyone in the mood for some fun.
