Its that time of the week when you've earned your rest. You had a long week and you gave it your best. For all the fathers this weekend, you deserve a hand. How about a Rock Anthem to celebrate with a landmark band.
This weeks Rock Anthem of the Week is Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf.
Released in 1968, the song has been adopted by the biker community since it was included in the soundtrack for Easy Rider. The crack of the snare drum kicks of this energetic tune. The grinding guitar riff locked in with the rhythm section while John Kay's vocals soulfully yet authoritatively take over.
The song that brought us the phrase "Heavy Metal" walked a fine line between all out rocker as well as bringing the dynamics down to give us all a chance to breath while the Hammond organ filled out the sound and gave it an otherworldly feel.
This song is a must in any cover band's set list. It's almost a crime not to play this song at a bar. This song is a true classic that still sounds relevant today.
