Man I stumbled across this auction and I was completely floored. The original master tapes for Ozzy, and Badlands guitarists Jake E. Lee’s solo album “A fine pink mist”.
The auctioneer calls this a great investment for a collector or record company. He suggests you can remix, edit, and transfer to another medium all the content on the tapes. Really?!? Just because you have tapes doesn’t mean the material isn’t subject to copyright laws.
It’s disappointing to see this. Jake is a huge influence of mine and I know he’s had a tough go of it in the past. It’s just sad to see the master tapes for a project of his being auctioned off on Ebay like some Furbee or beanie baby. Jake is a monster player and deserves a little more respect in the rock and roll world.
It looks like the reserve was not met on this auction and I really hope the thing just goes away. I’m not sure if this goes on a lot out there but it sure would be a sorry state of affairs to think that an artists hard work can just be sold to the highest bidder.
Check out some of Jake's work
