What is old is new again, and again.

The guitar world is fickle and fussy at best. What is the coolest hottest today my be tomorrows $100 pawn shop special. Well, 20 years ago anyone who was anyone in the rock world was playing Kramer Guitars. They were on all the big stages with all the big names. Then as quickly as they took the throne, they were gone. Not really gone, just fallen out of favor and left for dead. Gibson bought the Kramer name and is still producing some models but I don't think they are anything like the originals.

Just as mysteriously as he disappeared, Gary Kramer, the man behind the name "Kramer" has resurfaced and is back in business producing new models that strike the same chord as the Kramers of the late 80's.

The stripped down single humbucker Custom 2 harkens imageback to a time when guitarists were setting their fretboard on fire with two handed tapping and squealing harmonics. Only time will tell whether these new offerings will attain the same status as the historic namesakes from yesteryear.

image The radical looking Kramertorium has it's roots in the wild shapes that came out of the 80's. The sweeping back wing and shark tooth inlays let you know that this is a metal machine. One can almost see this model in any MTV video complete with pyrotechnics and larger than life riffs.

Read part 1 and part 2 of my ramblings about what is old is new again and I think you'll be convinced that shred machine is back and it's time to take notice.
